Keeping mind and body healthy during COVID-19

COVID-19 has affected the whole world, and because of that I am now forced to stay home and practice social distancing if I do go outside. Staying inside and staying healthy is definitely a challenge for a person like me. I am someone who is overweight and likes food, and I am aware of my problems. So to keep myself from not gaining more weight, and try to stay the same weight while losing some slowly. I came up with a plan.

Step number one: just don’t eat an unhealthy snack. I(like most people) like chips, cookies, and candy. These are all bad if eaten constantly with no stop, so I decided to instead eat one apple to replace 12:10 school lunch and then wait till lunch to eat food. Now step two: eat a balanced meal, which is really basic, but hey I’m not exactly fit and this is a good way to start. In Case you wonder what a balanced meal is check https://www.choosemyplate.gov/ for more details. Finally the last step: Exercise. This is the most important step and the hardest to do on a daily basis. I personally do some trampoline “zumba” with my family for at least 30 minutes.

Then we rest for a bit and walk the dog for the same amount of time. I know this is basic, but if you keep a healthy diet and do this type of exercise, you will lose weight. Also later on you can get more equipment to help with the exercise.

To summarize, I am just trying to stay as healthy as I can while stuck in quarantine and these are the personal steps that I am taking. However, don’t forget to keep your mind healthy too; read a book, take some fresh air and immediately go back inside, or play a boardgame.

Whatever it is you are doing, stay safe and healthy at home.
